After releasing several triple-A titles such as World of Warcraft and Diablo 3 featuring a p2p or b2p business model, Blizzard Entertainment managed to release a true free-to-play title.
Since Open Beta a lot of players said that Hearthstone is a little pay-to-win, but recently a famous streamer called Trump (every Hearthstone players should know him) managed to achieve the Legendary Rank without spending one single dollar. This should prove once and for all that Hearthstone is NOT a p2w title.
Hearthstone production director, Jason Chayes said to Eurogamer “We really wanted to make sure that it wasn’t just lip service to say it’s free to play and then hit some kind of monetization gate where you had to buy things, so for us making sure you could actually earn all the things you needed to be competitive was something we put a lot of time into”.
For those of you who are waiting for the next update called Curse of Naxxramas we have a surprise. A few hours ago, on Hearthstone official twitter a new Paladin card was revealed. Avenge is a secret that will give a friendly minion +3/+2 when one of your minion dies. Until now only the Druid Spell “Poison Seeds” and the Paladin Secret “Avenge” were revealed.
Hearthstone Curse of Naxxramas is expected to go live this summer.
